And of course you will be gifted with a scenery that you wont find down in the cities. Imagine the sun rays adding a golden hue to the emerald or snow capped mountains or simply paint the blue sky with a organish hue! Ah, that’s why we love the colossal mountains. For those who are smitten by their charm, here are some mountain getaways that you must visit.

Lahaul and Spiti


Nestled between the mighty Himalayas and Pir Panjal Range , Lahaul and Spiti will leave you speechless with its untamed beauty. This part of Himachal is full of surprises as you will be gifted with murmuring rivers to golden peaks to pristine lakes to clear blue sky! Lahaul and Spiti are two different places and each of them have a distinct beauty. Lahaul is a high plateau that has mountains all around but it is lot more greener. On the other hand Spiti is a cold desert and its barren mountains is what leaves travellers in a trance. If you are seeking inner peace and appreciate nature’s wonderful creation then you must make your way to Lahaul and Spiti

How to Reach: You can take a flight to Bhuntar Airport in Kullu and then a drive of 40 kms to Manali and 115 kms to Rohtang Pass to Keylong. Chandigarh and Shimla are the two main station, from where you can directly take a taxi to reach the destination. It is well connected via road too.

What to See: Ki Gompa, Kunzum Pass, Dhankar Gompa, Pin Valley National Park

Nubra Valley


If mountains is what fascinates you, then you must head to Nubra Valley, which is located in Leh district of Jammu & Kashmir. This valley is known for its orchards, snowcapped mountains, Bactrian Camels and monastries. And originally Ldmura which means Valley of Flowers.  The gurgling rivers Shyok and Nubra along the gigantic mountains adds an extra quoteint beauty to this valley letting travelers fall for it. It will also take you the world of Buddhism as it is surrounded my many monasteries.

How to Reach: The nearest airport from this place is Leh, from where you have to hire a taxi or bus to reach the valley. While the nearest Railway Station is Jammu, and then you have to take a cab or bus to reach Nubra. This valley is also well connected via roadways too.

Auli is one of the treasures of Uttarkhand that can make any traveler into a storyteller with its myraid beauty. It has become a very popular ski destination in the country especially during late November to March. How to Reach: The nearest airport  is Jolly Grant Airport, Dehradun and from where Auli is 286 kms.  Rishikesh is the closest Railway Station from where you have to hire a cab or bus to reach Auli which is 264 kms away. It is also well connected via roadways and from major cities in northern India buses ply to Auli.

Mount Kilimanjaro



A colossal mountain stands tall amidst a national park and has an everlasting snow capped peak that looks more like a crown and often drapped with clouds. Yah, we are talking about Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest peak in Africa (5896metre) which is located in Tanzania. Every year, thousands of trekkers climb this enormous mountain and witnesses enticing view of the National Park of Tanzania.

How to reach: To reach this amazing destination you have to take a flight to Kilimanjaro International Airport.

Mount Titlis



Situated between the cantons of Obwalden and Berne, Mount Titlis a part of Uri Alps. This was the first place in the world to be reached by the cable cars. While going up to the highest peak, you will be mesmerized by the swiss beauty and snow capped alpine mountains.  It is ideal skiing destination during winters while summers is perfect for hikkers. A romantic destination that is known for its serenity will surely gift you with some very precious memories to take back home. If you are in Switzerland this shouldn’t go for a miss.

How to reach: First you have to take a flight to Zurich Airport, and then take a 2 hours train ride to Engelberg. You can also hire a cab to reach Engelberg

Valley of Ten Peaks



If mountains are your first love then you must make a trip to Valley of Ten Peaks in Banff National Park in Alberta, Canada. Ten rugged snow covered mountains, overlooking the Moraine Lake and also adorned with greenery all around is a scenery  that will leave you transfixed. The hanging glaciers located near it adds a unique charm that makes it one of the beautiful mountains in the world. Emerald water of the lake and the sun rays playing with colours on the peaks is what will be forever etched in your memory.

How to reach: The nearest airport near this place is in Calgary. You can take a train to Banff too or simply hire a cab or take a bus.

What to see: Eiffel Lake, Sentinel Pass, Louise Lake, Larch Valley
